Nebraska Floods and Cow Parties

Hello all!

As you may recall in March of 2019, parts of the Midwest (Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota and Wisconsin) experienced severe flooding caused by the culmination of record snowfall and rapidly melting snow in over a short period when temperatures rose rapidly. Due to the quickly melting snow and the still frozen ground unable to absorb any serious amount of water, lead to an unprecedented runoff into local streams and river. This extra runoff, as well as the elevated river levels from the previous fall resulted in devastating flooding in several states in the Midwest.

This flooding especially affected ranchers in the areas; causing loss of livestock and livelihood. Roads were washed away, as well as fences used to pen livestock, and calves were swept away and killed in the floods. These floods were especially impacting as cows were giving birth during that particular time of year. The devastation from these flood will affect farmers and their families for years to come.

NLLB is hoping to help alleviate some of the suffering and loss farmers in Nebraska are facing by sponsoring 3 pregnant heifers. We are collaborating with a rancher in the Midwest who is willing to help transport pregnant heifers to farmers in need. He is also donating 1 pregnant heifer and has been working on gather support from other ranchers in his area. We are currently working with local communities that have been hardest hit to get nominations of ranchers in need. It is a complex process with so many in need and we are focusing on the smaller ranchers who have had time to mend fences and are able to feed their cattle. We are hopeful to join with others to provide 12-15 pregnant heifers, NLLB supplying 3. YOU CAN BE A PART OF THIS PROJECT!

NLLB's goal is to bless ranchers with 2 pregnant heifers, not only to help them financially, but to show them that they are cared for and not forgotten. As many of you will know, small time ranchers do not carry insurance on their herd due to the cost. Some will not be able to recover from their losses from this flood. We are reaching out to challenge our supporters to help NLLB by making a donation to our Nebraska Heifer Fund. You can do this by contacting us directly or going to NLLB.me/donations to find more information about how to make a donation to this great cause!

If you are willing to host a "Cow Party" on behalf of NLLB, please let us know! It can be as simple as hosting a garage sale, a cow painting party or hosting your very own unique event with proceeds going to NLLB's Nebraska Heifer Fund! Reaching our Nebraska ranchers in their time of need!

Please contact NLLB if you'd like more information about our Nebraska Heifer project!
