As this virus continues to alter lives, NLLB tries to stay on top of ways to help those who cannot help themselves. We purchased hand farm tools for villagers in Myanmar and beyond.... helped with clothing needs for children of parents out of work, and now are bringing birds to the windows of elderly who cannot have visitors.
As you know, isolation has caused depression and discouragement to many, particularly to the elderly in nursing homes. In speaking to an Activities Director in a nursing care facility, she mentioned that one resident had a window bird feeder and it was amazing how that changed the resident's outlook. NLLB recently purchased 7 window feeders and a huge bag of bird seed (which the facility has a budget for in the future). It may seem like a simple item, one that is not necessary, but it will bring joy and laughter to those locked in isolation. The feeders will go to residents who do not have window-side family visitors.
