Winter Coat/Clothes for a Teen in Foster Care

It was brought to our attention that there was a 14-year-old girl in the Child Welfare system, who has arrived in New Mexico without winter clothes. NLLB not only bought her a winter coat, but we bought her a large supply of clothes, socks, undergarments.

Upon delivering these items to the Foster Care office, we were met by a social worker who saw the big bags and in her delight, hugged Linley. She was shocked to see new clothes and to see so many things. I believe that foster teens are often forgotten. Many live in group homes; here in New Mexico, many live in foster shelters. However, they can only stay for 30 days and are transferred to other foster shelters every 30 days. This is referred to here as "Shelter Hoppers". Very sad.

NLLB hopes bring a little joy to this 14 year old's life! Yesterday, the social work supervisor phoned to thank NLLB and mentioned the nice quality of items we purchased, especially the boots and coat. It appeared to be a shock for a foster teen to receive such gifts. NLLB strives to give quality items.
